Copenhagen Apartment

The Apartment is a new universe of design objects, furniture, antiques and art. Innovative modern design meets the unparallelled craft of traditional furniture making, showcased in the elegant setting of an apartment in Christianshavn, in the heart of Copenhagen, handsomely restored by founders Tina Seidenfaden Busck and Pernille Hornhaver.

The concept and pieces are edited with an international point of view, exhibiting world recognised designers such as Michael Anastassiades, McCollin Bryan, Martha Harmitage and Larusi rugs alongside handpicked antique furniture. The Apartment is also available for private consultation on interiors and art.

The founders are part of a tight network of the regions most compelling galleries allowing The Apartment to showcase and sell works by renowned, international artists. Beside this The Apartment have a longstanding relationship with auctions houses like Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips de Pury. This gives The Apartment an opportunity to operate both on the primary and the secondary art market.

Co-founder and Creative Director Tina Seidenfaden Busck (b. 1974) has been involved within contemporary art, design and antiques all of her career. Most recently, she was with one of the regions leading galleries Andersen’s Contemporary representing such artist as Olafur Eliasson, Anselm Reyle and Tomas Saraceno. From 2000 to 2010 she worked at Sotheby’s – first in London and since in Copenhagen as the co-representative for Denmark. Today she also sits in Georg Jensen’s Global Innovation Group.

Co-founder and CEO Pernille Hornhaver’s (b. 1969) professional background is as industrial psychologist with contributions to several international organisations and companies. In 2010 she decided to co-found The Apartment and put all her focus on her passion for design and interiors by using her vast experience within strategy and business development in this new area. Beside her professional work she has acted as interior advisor.

At the end of my article I will deliver a doze of their words – Tina Seidenfaden Busck & Pernille Hornhaver said “We hope that The Apartment will become more interesting as time passes. That we establish a place for beautiful design and art that surprises each and every visitor – somewhere people come back to again and again for inspiration for exciting design.”
